NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, Resigns to Return to Teaching Role

Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), has announced his resignation from the commission in order to focus on his teaching responsibilities. The announcement came during the approval of Kogi State University Kabba in Abuja on Monday.

Prof. Rasheed expressed his desire to return to the classroom, making teaching his primary assignment once again. He plans to resume his lecturing position at Bayero University Kano, where he was initially appointed before his seven-year tenure at the NUC.

As a highly respected Nigerian academician, administrator, and Professor of English, Prof. Rasheed previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano from 2010 to 2015. In 2016, he assumed the role of Executive Secretary at the NUC.

Prof. Rasheed’s decision to step down from his position at the NUC demonstrates his commitment to academia and his passion for teaching. His extensive experience and expertise will undoubtedly continue to contribute to the development of education in Nigeria.
